Julia Beattie

Julia Beattie traveled the world with nomadic parents before growing up mostly in England.  (The actual growing up is mostly still happening).  Salt Spring Island has become her latest home.  There, she plays solo in sunlit outdoor settings and writes songs for an EP set to be released in singles this spring with co-writer Dave Ronald.

Julia’s first album, ‘The Orchid Room’, is beat driven, atmospheric music.  Her influences run from Pat Metheny to The Cure and Everything But The Girl.  Unsigned Magazine recently touted the album as being “exotic and erotic…music that you play when you’re talking about life, philosophy and BIG THINGS.”  Her songs have been played on CBC’s North by Northwest.  The Orchid Room is digitally distributed and can be bought anywhere online on iTunes, Spotify or at

Julia Beattie has performed with or opened for artists such as Tom Hooper Grapes of Wrath, Suzanne Little Lava Hay, Darcy Hepner, Earth, Wind & Fire, Steve Dawson of Zubot & Dawson and The Marigolds, scored music for film and theatre and fronted a touring Funk/Rock band, a Jazz quartet and the musical review, Music Through The Ages. Julia's acoustic anthem rock solo performances incorporate her seductive songwriting lending to a cozy, intimate and unforgettable evening of sound.

For the  The Salt Spring Gallery opening of EROTICA 2018 on Friday Feb 9, 5-7 pm Julia Beattie will be joined by guitarist Mark Vanderwerf.
